Did you know that your cow or buffalo may be producing up to 30% less milk simply because it is not getting the right nutrition? To address this critical gap in animal nutrition, the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, under the leadership of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has launched an innovative digital solution — the Goras Mobile App. Soon, this app will be available on the Play Store under the name Goras App. It is being claimed that with its help, milk production in cows and buffaloes can increase by 20–30%.
Why was the Goras App developed?
Madhya Pradesh is home to over 2 crore cattle and buffaloes, yet more than 80% of livestock owners still rely on traditional feeding practices such as fodder and choker (bran) without scientific balance.
A departmental study revealed alarming insights:
- Lack of scientific nutrition reduces milk production efficiency.
- Farmers are losing 20–30% potential income due to poor diet management.
- Reproductive issues such as frequent heat cycles and difficulty in conception are becoming increasingly common.
In short, poor feeding practices are weakening livestock — and reducing farmers’ earnings.
The Goras App has been designed as a solution to this long-standing problem.
What is the Goras Mobile App?
The Goras App works like a virtual animal nutritionist in your pocket.
Farmers only need to enter basic information such as:
- Breed of animal (Gir, Sahiwal, Murrah, etc.)
- Body weight and daily milk production
- Pregnancy stage (if applicable)
- Current feeding pattern
Based on this data, the app uses scientific calculations to provide:
- A balanced diet plan: what to feed, how much to feed, and when to feed
- Customized feeding changes based on season (especially heat) and pregnancy stage
- Estimated income gain per lactation cycle and losses due to incorrect feeding
Key Benefits of the Goras App
1. Higher milk production, lower cost
The app helps farmers optimize feed combinations to increase milk output while reducing unnecessary expenses.
2. Better breed management
It provides suggestions for improving livestock breeds for higher productivity.
3. Reduced animal diseases
Balanced nutrition improves immunity, leading to healthier animals and fewer veterinary expenses.
4. Breed-specific guidance
Separate recommendations are available for Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Murrah, Bhadawari, and crossbred cattle.
5. Free, simple, and Hindi-friendly
The app is completely free to use, available in Hindi, and designed to work even in low or no internet conditions.
When and how to download?
According to the department, the Goras Mobile App will soon be available on the Google Play Store.
To use it:
- Open Google Play Store
- Search for “Goras App”
- Download and install it
- Allow necessary permissions and start managing your livestock scientifically
A step towards smarter dairy farming
The Goras App represents a major shift from traditional livestock care to data-driven, scientific dairy management. By bridging the knowledge gap in animal nutrition, it aims to directly increase farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy of Madhya Pradesh.
