The evergreen fruit banana is always in demand in the market. Due to the demand, its production in India is also high. India is the world’s leading producer of bananas with a share of about 25 percent of the total production. India produces about 27.5 million tonnes of bananas every year. India ranks first in the world in terms of banana production. On second place is China, where 12 million tonnes of bananas are produced per year. The inclination of farmers towards banana cultivation is increasing continuously. The main reason for this is more profit from banana cultivation.
One such farmer is Raghu Singh, living in Ganja village of Prayagraj, who is earning profit from banana cultivation. Raghu Singh mainly cultivates bananas on 32 bighas of land. In a special conversation with Kisan of India, he told that a banana plant gives an average yield of 15 to 20 kg.
Banana crop price depends on quality
Banana is grown not from seeds, but from banana plants. He has planted 960 trees per bigha, from which he earns 70 to 80 thousand per bigha profit. The price of banana crop also depends on its quality. The market price of medium quality bananas is 50 thousand rupees per bigha, while high quality bananas get a profit of 70 to 80 thousand rupees. At the same time, it is also important to take care of many things while cultivating bananas. The temperature of 35 to 36 degree is right for banana crop.
More profits from banana cultivation than traditional farming
Raghu Singh cultivates peas and wheat along with banana cultivation. After the banana crop which is ready in 14 months, he cultivates peas on that land. Raghu Singh tells that there are many benefits of banana cultivation. If there is no cultivation of bananas, then they cannot run their household with the cultivation of paddy and wheat alone.
