Kamlesh Choubey’s success story: A lot of changes are being seen in Bihar in the field of agriculture these days. Earlier, the farmers here mainly cultivated traditional crops like paddy, wheat and maize, but now farmers are gradually moving away from these traditional methods and showing interest in cultivating new and profitable crops. The reason for this change is the adoption of technological development and new experiments in farming. Especially the increasing trend towards organic farming shows that farmers are now taking steps to increase their production as well as protect the environment.

Today we are going to tell you the story of a farmer who has completely changed his fortune through organic farming and created a new dimension in the field of agriculture. We are talking about farmer Kamlesh Choubey of West Champaran district, who left traditional farming and adopted the cultivation of new and colorful crops and achieved tremendous success in it. Kamlesh cultivated black radish, white maize and other colorful crops, which not only became an inspiration for the farmers, but their cultivation has also shown a new direction in the agriculture sector.

Move towards organic farming

Kamlesh Choubey started organic farming from the year 2015. He started cultivating new varieties of paddy as well as medicinal crops like black turmeric, common turmeric, black radish, black tomato, long chilli, red onion, and black potato. Apart from this, he also started growing crops like pulses, oilseeds and cabbage in an organic way.

Kamlesh believes that organic farming not only maintains the fertility of the land, but it also gives more profit to the farmers. Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are not used in organic farming, which increases production and also does not have any bad effect on health.

Success of black radish

Kamlesh Choubey started a new variety of black radish in his farming, which he grew from seeds ordered from Nagaland. The special thing about this crop is that it sells much more expensive than white radish. According to agricultural scientists, black radish is rich in antioxidants, which helps in keeping the heart healthy.

Kamlesh told that after cultivating black radish, he started supplying seeds of this crop to other farmers of Bihar. Along with this, farmers of Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh also demanded black radish seeds. The special thing is that farmers of neighboring countries like Nepal also bought black radish seeds from him.

White Corn: A New Beginning

Kamlesh Choubey has also successfully cultivated white corn. White corn is called ‘Milky Corn’, which is white like milk and tastes like milk. Kamlesh had ordered the seeds of this corn from Maharashtra at the rate of Rs 3500 per kg. After cultivating it in one kattha, he got a yield of 300 kg of white corn.

The specialty of white corn is that 5-6 corn cobs come out in its plant, whereas only 2-3 corn cobs come out in yellow corn. This increases the yield significantly. Many food products like laddu, cake, halwa and idli can be made from white corn, which are becoming popular among the people.

Benefits of organic farming

Kamlesh Choubey’s farming has proved that farmers can not only increase their income through organic farming, but they also do not harm the environment. Organic farming maintains the fertility of the land, and it is also beneficial for health as chemical fertilizers are not used in it.

Kamlesh told that all the crops he has grown are grown organically. Due to this, his crops not only have quality, but they also sell at a good price in the market.

Investment in organic farming and future plans

Kamlesh says that the investment in organic farming is not much, but it requires time and hard work. He said that if farmers adopt organic farming in the right way, they can get good profits. Kamlesh is now planning to share his experiences with other farmers so that they can also benefit from the benefits of organic farming.

Conclusion

Kamlesh Choubey’s success story shows that if farmers adopt organic farming and use new techniques, they can double their income. Cultivation of black radish, white corn and other colourful crops has proved that organic farming has a very bright future. If more farmers like Kamlesh adopt organic farming, it will prove beneficial not only for them but also for the entire agriculture sector.

To move ahead in organic farming, it is important that farmers abandon their old methods and adopt new and effective methods.
