Krishi Sakhi Scheme: Krishi Sakhi is an ambitious scheme of UP government, promoting natural farming with Rs 2500 crore
Krishi Sakhi Scheme: The aim of the ‘Krishi Sakhi’ scheme launched by the central government is to improve and develop the agriculture sector. These Krishi Sakhis make farmers aware about government schemes as well as give information about modern agricultural techniques.
The role of ‘Krishi Sakhis’ is going to be important in promoting natural farming by the Uttar Pradesh government. The state government has prepared a detailed plan for this. Under this scheme, an amount of more than Rs 2500 crore will be spent in the next two years. The main focus of the government is to encourage natural farming in Bundelkhand and Ganga coastal areas as well as areas around the tributaries of the Ganga. In this initiative, ‘Krishi Sakhis’ will play an important role, who will inspire farmers for organic farming.

After completing the training, they will be appointed and will be given a salary of Rs 5000 every month. They will be selected by a committee constituted at the district level.

Why Is Organic Farming Needed In UP?
The quality of soil in Uttar Pradesh is continuously deteriorating, in which the amount of heavy metals is increasing. Apart from this, the fertility of the land is decreasing due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. In view of these problems, the government is motivating farmers for chemical-free farming.
Advantages of Natural Farming
The fertility of the soil increases.
Dependence on chemical fertilizers reduces, which reduces costs.
The quality of crops and the amount of nutrients increases.
Environmental pollution reduces.
The income of farmers increases.Â
