One of the hundreds of farmers of the country who are changing the face of farming with new thinking and tremendous hard work is Ramashray Kumar of Kathori village in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. This name is not just of a farmer, but has become an example of success through organic farming. Usually when we talk about farming, we remember the traditional crops of paddy, wheat and sugarcane. But Ramashray ji chose a crop different from all these, which has become the reason for his identity and success today, that is Black Rice.

He says, “The yield in the cultivation of black rice is less, but its price and demand is so high that the profit is much more than other crops. Today his annual income has reached 1 to 10 lakh rupees. His success shows that even small beginnings can bring about big changes.

Ramashraay believes that farming is not just a means of livelihood, it is a lifesaver. He says, “If we adopt organic farming, not only will our crop be better, but our land, water and environment will also be safe.”

Ramashraay ji did not limit himself to his success. He also inspired the farmers around him to do organic farming. He says, “The biggest investment in farming is not money, but the right thinking and the right technology.”

What is the secret of black rice cultivation?

Ramashraay believes that the time from October to February is most suitable for black rice cultivation. This is a crop that gives more profit at low cost. While growing it, special attention is paid to the fertility of the land and the environment.
