Who is Ramesh Gera?

Ramesh Gera ji’s journey is a story of becoming extraordinary from ordinary. He was earlier an engineer in a multinational company and worked in different countries for 35 years. But when life challenged him, he made farming his passion. After the death of his wife, he put his energy into farming and made it a mission. Today his annual income is between Rs 31 to 40 lakh.

How did it start?

In the year 2019, Ramesh Gera ji saw a dream which was considered impossible to fulfill. He decided that he would grow saffron i.e. ‘Saffron’ (Saffron Farming) on ​​the land of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, that too without any farm. Yes, he created an environment like Kashmir by using aeroponics technology in a refrigerator and a closed room.

The first two years were the most difficult years of his life. Every experiment failed. Lakhs of rupees were spent, but the result was zero. Despite this, he refused to give up. Worked hard day and night, understood new techniques and continued his efforts.

First step towards success

In the year 2021, Ramesh Gera ji turned to Sher-e-Kashmir University in Srinagar. There he consulted experts, faced many problems, but finally success started kissing his feet. Today he is completely successful in growing saffron in a closed room. His yield and quality matches the best saffron of Kashmir.

Increased employment and scope of knowledge through farming

Ramesh Gera ji’s hard work did not stop here. He also took the initiative to teach new techniques to farmers. He opened a training institute in Panchkula, where more than 350 farmers have been trained so far. People come to his training not only from India but also from abroad. The special thing is that the training is absolutely free for poor farmers. Even their accommodation and food arrangements are made by Ramesh Gera ji himself.

Journey from Noida to Panchkula

Earlier he used to do saffron farming in Noida. But in Panchkula, he not only established himself, but also created a platform where farmers can realize their dreams. Along with this, Ramesh Gera ji is associated with Jaypee Infratech. He is doing his job very well as an agriculture advisor.

This journey was not easy for Ramesh Gera ji. Earlier he used to cultivate saffron in Noida, but after the death of his wife, he gave a new direction to his mission in Panchkula. Along with new techniques in farming, he also started research on bamboo cultivation and hydroponics. His aim is that farmers can improve their standard of living by adopting modern technology.
