RAS technology in Fish farming business is successful

This will increase fish production by 30 times, know about this technology from Neeraj Chaudhary, can use same water for 10 years

You must have seen many techniques of fish farming in open ponds till now, but now with the help of new techniques in indoor, you can produce 8 to 10 times more fish by doing fish farming in less space. You can imagine that 60 tons of fish can be produced in only 1200 yards of land. What is this RAS technology? On this, Kisan of India had a special conversation with modern fish farmer Neeraj Chaudhary.

Neeraj Chaudhary, a resident of Nilokhedi village in Karnal district of Haryana, runs Sultan Fish Farm. He is the co-partner of this fish farm. He has adopted Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) technology.

How to increase the production of fish up to 30 percent?

Neeraj holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His family has been associated with the fish farming business for the last 35 years. That’s why he had an attachment to this field from the beginning. That’s why Neeraj also chose this profession for himself. He completely adapted fish farming to the modern structure. Took training in hi-tech fish farming from America. Using the new technology, he increased fish production by 30 times in his farm with the recirculation method. He told that earlier in the traditional technique, 2 to 3 kg of fish were produced per cubic meter of water. Now RAS technology is producing 67 kilos of fish per cubic meter of water.

Use of same water for 10 years

Neeraj informed that in RAS technique, fishes are usually reared in indoor and outdoor tanks in a controlled environment. This technology requires very less space with high density technology in less water. To maintain the continuous flow of water, arrangements are made for the movement of water. RAS is a technology in which the harmful elements of water are removed by the use of mechanical and biological filters and the water is used again for fish farming. This does not cause wastage of water. With this, the same water can be used for 10 years. The recirculating system recycles the water and cleans it through the filter. Then sends the water back to the fish culture tank. This technique can be used for rearing any species of fish. Neeraj Chaudhary says that fish production can be taken up using this technique in urban and semi-urban areas where there is scarcity of land and water.

Use of modern RAS technology

Neeraj Chaudhary says that a temperature controller is installed in the recirculation aquaculture project, which itself controls the temperature. Fishes are not affected by cold and heat. Earlier, when fish farming was done in the ponds, the migratory birds also used to eat the fish. Farmers do not face such problems inside this shed. Water is poured into the pond from the top through an air reactor, due to which the oxygen level of the pond water is maintained. Due to this, the development of fish is also good. In this technique, the water of the pond is also filtered from time to time. Special strips are used to monitor the pH value of water, so that the quality of water is maintained. Medicines are also used to protect fish from diseases.

fishing under any conditions

Neeraj Chaudhary says that this technique is very beneficial in commercial fish farming. High quality fish is produced. Pests and climatic factors have less effect. Fish can be easily reared in adverse weather. In no way the fishes are victims of external pollution. Several filter designs are used in recirculating systems. The job of all filtration is to remove waste, excess nutrients and solids from the water.

RAS technology

Bumper production in less time

Neeraj Chaudhary told that many parameters affecting the fishes can be continuously monitored. There are machines to monitor the status of factors such as temperature, oxygen level, and ammonia. He said that the management of RAS system depends heavily on the quality and quantity of fish feed, and filtration. According to Neeraj, under this farmers can take two carp in a year. Once seeded, after 6 months the fishes are ready to be sold in the market. With this technique, species like Sibas, Chital, Desi Mangoor Jhinga, Nile, Tapelia can be harvested.

Fish farm can operate from anywhere

Neeraj said that you can operate this technique from anywhere. According to time and need, you can take care of your farm from anywhere. The price of fish varies from Rs 100 to Rs 700 per kilo depending on the species. With Modern Fish Farming RAS technology, you can modernize your traditional fish farming in many ways and increase your profit manifold than before.

RAS technology

How much does it cost?

If we talk about its cost, then the RAS system with 8 tanks costs Rs 50 lakh, the one with 6 tanks costs Rs 25 lakh and the one with one tank costs Rs 7.5 lakh. There is also a provision of subsidy by the Central Government and the State Governments regarding this. In this, 50% subsidy amount is given by the central government and the state governments of different states also give subsidy. Farmers can use RAS technology through individual group or FPO.
