A resident of Meharukhedi village in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, Sankalp Sharma gave a new direction to his life by embracing organic and natural farming. After pursuing higher education like BE (Mechanical) and MBA (Marketing), he spent several years in the corporate world. But in 2015, he understood his passion and attachment to nature and moved full-time to natural farming. Today, Sankalp is not only achieving success in his farming but he is also inspiring thousands of farmers.
From corporate to farming
Sankalp Sharma may have had a stable and profitable corporate career, but he was not satisfied with it. He was always looking for a job that was in harmony with nature. Sankalp says, “I felt that I should return to my roots and bring a positive change in the society through farming.”
He started farming using his family land. This decision was not easy for him, as moving from corporate life to the field of farming was a big challenge. But he had determination, and he made it his strength.
Natural Farming and its Features
Sankalp decided to adopt natural farming, which does not use chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
1. Use of local resources:
Sankalp believes that locally available resources should be used for farming. He uses cow dung, cow urine, vermicompost, and natural pesticides.
2. Cost reduction:
Natural farming is cost less than organic farming, as it does not require materials purchased from the market.
3. Healthy crop and environment:
The soil of his farm is healthy, and the crops are less prone to diseases and pests. It is also beneficial for the environment.
Success of Sharvati Wheat
Sankalp has played an important role in promoting the fame of Sharvati wheat of Vidisha. He started cultivating it on a large scale and delivered it directly to his customers.

He developed a model to deliver his products directly to consumers, eliminating the role of middlemen.

His products are of high quality, which are becoming popular not only in the local market but also at the national level.
