ICAR Achieves Major Milestones Under Special Campaign 5.0
ICAR’s cleanliness and record management drive under Special Campaign 5.0 frees over 2 lakh sq. ft. of space and generates ₹2.4 crore through scrap disposal.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has recorded major achievements under the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0, which emphasizes record management, cleanliness, efficient space utilization, and transparency in governance.
According to an official release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), ICAR made remarkable progress across its various offices and institutes. The council reviewed 17,801 physical files and 9,001 e-files as part of its record management drive. Out of these, 5,565 physical files were weeded out and 3,561 e-files were closed after review, ensuring better organization and improved efficiency in administrative functioning.
Record Management Drive Yields Big Results
As part of the cleanliness initiative, ICAR conducted 7,275 outdoor cleanliness campaigns across the country under the direct supervision of senior officers. These drives aimed to enhance workplace hygiene, promote environmental responsibility, and create awareness among staff and visitors about maintaining clean surroundings in research and administrative spaces.
A key highlight of the campaign was the focus on scrap disposal and space management. Through systematic disposal of obsolete items and redundant materials, ICAR generated ₹2.40 crore in revenue as of October 27, 2025. The process also led to the freeing up of a substantial 2,09,809 square feet of office space, which can now be repurposed for productive use, including new research initiatives, laboratories, and improved staff facilities.
In addition to physical clean-up efforts, ICAR also took decisive action on pending administrative matters. All 25 pending public grievance appeals were successfully resolved, reflecting the council’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centric governance.
Scrap Disposal Generates ₹2.4 Crore Revenue
Officials at ICAR emphasized that the campaign not only improved operational efficiency but also instilled a culture of discipline, order, and accountability within the organization. By aligning with the broader objectives of Special Campaign 5.0, the council has demonstrated how systematic efforts can lead to tangible improvements in public sector performance.
The achievements underscore ICAR’s ongoing commitment to the principles of efficiency, cleanliness, and good governance. The organization continues to integrate digital tools and sustainable practices into its daily operations, ensuring that India’s premier agricultural research body remains a model of administrative excellence and environmental responsibility.
