Bhavna Nikam, a resident of Nashik district of Maharashtra, is a progressive farmer. After graduation, she chose agriculture sector without going after the job. They have adopted many advanced techniques of farming. He has built a polyhouse in two thousand squares in his village Dabhadi. In this, she cultivates capsicum, tomato, grapes and many types of vegetables. Also Shednet House uses many advanced farming techniques and farm equipment including mulching, grading, packing, tractor, rotavator.
Poultry farming along with fish farming in farm ponds
Bhawna Nikam’s farm has become the center of the Biodiversity Model. Her specialty is the cultivation of new and rare varieties of vegetables and other crops. Many farmers come to her farm to buy improved seeds and plants. She is also working on water conservation. To maintain the availability of water, she has adopted Rain Water Harvesting System technology in her farm. Along with this, farm ponds have also been made. In these ponds, they do fish farming as well as poultry farming. That is, by making a structure over the ponds, poultry are rearing in it.
Gives advice to agri-students and farmers
Bhawna Nikam has taken training on Integrated Farming System and other activities related to farming from Krishi Vigyan Kendra and State Agriculture Department under various schemes. Today her farm is thronged by agri-students, farmers and youth. Farmers come to learn the tricks of advanced farming techniques. Bhawna Dabhadi has become a role model for the women farmers of the village.
Honoured with many awards
Bhawna Nikam received ‘Shivaji Maharaj Krishi Samman Award’ in 2019, ‘Best Mahila Farmer Award’ and Innovative Woman Farmer Award in 2021. Also, praising her achievements in agriculture, she was honoured at the Women’s Farmer’s Day function organized by Aatma.
