Organic Farming Methods: This farmer from Baghpat adopted the best model of Multilayer Farming

Organic Farming Methods: Good profits cannot be earned from traditional farming alone and today’s educated farmers understand this very well, that is why they keep doing different experiments in farming. A farmer from Baghpat district is also doing something similar. The people of Sisana village of Baghpat district, who played an important role in the freedom struggle, are also playing an important role in agriculture. Young farmer Vineet Chauhan of this village is not only getting more than one crop through multi-cropping technique in multilayer farming, but the production is also good.

The most important thing is that he does not use any kind of urea or chemical fertilizer and completely adopts organic farming techniques. How Vineet Kumar is earning good profits from multilayer farming and what things are important to keep in mind while growing horticultural crops, he discussed all these important issues with Kisan of India correspondent Sarvesh Bundeli.

Adopt organic farming techniques in gardening

Vineet says that his family is associated with agriculture, he has done graduation and MBA, but he did not want to do a job but his own work, so he thought why not do something new in his own farm. Then I thought of doing gardening. Farming only. He started gardening 5 years ago. He adopts completely organic farming methods and takes organic production, in which urea or other chemicals are not used at all.

Guava Varieties

Vineet Chauhan says that he is growing two varieties of guava, Thai VNR and Taiwan Pink Guava. Thai VNR is a very good variety. Thai guavas are very soft and tasty to eat and have very few seeds. The weight of one guava is up to 800-900 grams. Due to growing such large guavas, Vineet Chauhan is very famous in his area and he has also been honored by the Horticulture Department.

It is important to keep these things in mind in horticulture (Important Factors in Horticulture)

Vineet Chauhan tells some important things to those farmers who want to earn well from horticulture. Like, first of all, he tells about the distance between rows and plants and says that there is no fixed formula to decide the distance. If a farmer wants to do intensive gardening, then a distance of 6 to 8 feet can be kept between the plants and between the rows. If you want to grow another crop under the guava tree, then this distance can be kept 12 to 15 feet.

In intensive gardening, the plants always have to be cut, because it is important for sunlight to come inside. One thing should be kept in mind that the flowers that come out in guava plants are mostly on the same branch, which is cut. The best time for cutting is February. At this time, fertilizer etc. should be added after cutting. After cutting, Bordeaux mixture should be applied on that branch. It is very easy to prepare.

Method of preparing Bordeaux mixture (Preparation Bordeaux Mixture?)

For Bordeaux mixture, you need two things – blue vitriol and quicklime. Both of these are mixed in separate plastic buckets or boxes. Then both are put in the same vessel and mixed. To check whether the mixture is prepared correctly or not, a piece of iron is put in this solution. If it becomes copper colored, then understand that the mixture is not right and some more lime is added to it. Along with the cutting area, it is also used to protect from fungus.

Land Preparation For Horticulture Crops

Since ploughing in the garden is not possible with a tractor, Vineet ploughs the field with a power tiller. He tells that after ploughing, he adds organic fertilizers like vermicompost, neem manure mixture, neem-castor cake, seaweed fertilizer, organic prom, organic manure and organic manure and then ploughs the field once again so that it gets mixed in the soil and then pours water. After this, moong is sown in the field. After harvesting moong, his plan is to grow pulse crops in multicropping. He also wants to plant lentil and pigeon pea.

Number of trees in the orchard (Horticulture Crops In Orchard)

Along with guava, there are many other fruit plants in Vineet Chauhan’s orchard, about which he says that he has 600 to 650 guava trees, 100-125 lemon trees, Mahogany, Malabar Neem, Apple, Apple Plum, Peach, Babugosha and some other fruits. For experimentation, he has also planted date palms. If this is successful, then he is also thinking of cultivating date palms in the future. (Organic Farming Methods)

Pheromone Trap For Pest Control

Fruit flies can cause heavy damage to the guava crop, so protection from it is very important. For this, Vineet Chauhan has put a bottle with a yellow lid on the tree, which is called pheromone trap. There is a medicine inside it, due to which the fruit fly gets trapped inside it. The smell of this medicine remains for 25-30 days. Therefore, it should be changed after a month.

When to set up pheromone traps? (When To Set Up Pheromone Traps)

Farmers should also know when it is necessary to set up pheromone traps to protect against fruit flies. Regarding this, Vineet says that when the flowers on the guava tree start to turn into fruits and the size of the fruit becomes a little bigger, then the trap should be set at that time. Because the fruit fly attacks the unripe fruit. Therefore, setting the trap at that time saves the fruits. Along with the pheromone trap, he has also set up tricho cards on which mosquitoes and flies get stuck, due to which they are unable to harm the plants. He has set up two types of tricho cards, blue and yellow, for different insects.

Where did he get training from?

Vineet says that he did not know anything about gardening. He got information about where to get the plants from and how to do it through YouTube and Google search. He also started work after taking advice from the horticulture department. Drip irrigation is used for irrigation in his garden. He says that drip irrigation method consumes less water and water goes directly to the roots of the tree by dripping. The government also gives subsidy on this. (Organic Farming Methods)

Vegetable Farming With Horticulture Crops

Vineet Chauhan also grows vegetables along with gardening. Coriander, cucumber, gourd, etc. are planted in his garden. He says that by making drains on both sides of the garden, he has planted bottle gourd, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, cucumber, melon, watermelon on one side and coriander on the other side, he also gets good income by selling these vegetables.

Method of Cultivation in Winter

In winter, seeds do not germinate quickly, so to germinate the seeds, the seeds are washed and kept in a warm place. Vineet says that because germination does not take place in low temperatures, the seeds can be sown inside the house or by making a polyhouse or even inside straw. Some people germinate the seeds by putting them in polythene. To plant the early crop, the nursery has to be prepared in winter itself.

Vineet tells that guava is produced twice a year. However, some farmers do not take the fruit of the rainy season, because there is more heat in it and the risk of fungus is also high. If the rainy season produce is not taken, then the production in winter will be good and the quality of the fruit will also be good. However, he himself takes two crops in a year and in this regard he tells that he uses organic fertilizer and puts traps to protect from insects, so he easily takes two crops.

Frequently Asked Questions on Organic Farming and Multilayer Farming

Question: What is multilayer farming and what are its benefits?

Answer: Multilayer farming is a technique in which many types of crops are grown at different levels in the same field. It is also called multi-level farming. Its benefits are:

The entire field space is used.

Production increases.

Soil fertility is maintained.

The risk of pests and diseases is reduced.

Question: What is organic farming and what are its benefits?

Answer: Organic farming is a method in which chemical fertilizers and pesticides are not used, but organic fertilizers and natural pesticides are used. Crops and products are safe for health. The quality and fertility of the soil is maintained. The environment is not harmed.

Question: What is a pheromone trap?

Answer: Pheromone trap is an insecticide device in which a special medicine is applied due to which insects get trapped inside it.

Question: What is Bodo mixture and how is it prepared?

Answer: Bodo mixture is a fungicide solution prepared by mixing blue vitriol and quicklime. It is used to protect plants from infection after cutting.

Question: What is multi cropping technique?

Answer: Multi cropping technique is a method of farming in which more than one crop is grown in the same field at the same time or at different times. Its main objective is to make maximum use of land and diversify crop production.

Question: What is Thai VNR?

Answer: Thai VNR is a special type of guava obtained from Thailand. It is characterized by its sweet taste and good texture. This guava is very juicy and succulent.
