Ajay Kumar: Agriculture in India is important not just from an economic point of view, but also from a social and cultural point of view. Technological improvements in agriculture have made it possible to increase yields, save time, and better management of resources. The enthusiasm of Indian farmers towards new technology has grown rapidly in the last few years, as evidenced by government data.

Growing trend in adopting new technologies

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, about 60% of farmers in India are now using technological innovations in agriculture. These include means such as drip irrigation, mulching, soil testing, and solar-powered pump sets. Farmers are now preferring modern technologies over traditional methods as these techniques pave the way for lower costs and higher production.

In particular, schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana (PM-KISAN) and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) have increased awareness among farmers. According to the data, more than 12 crore farmers have benefited under PM-KISAN in the last three years. The financial support provided under this scheme has encouraged farmers to adopt technical means in agriculture.

Ajay Kumar becomes an example

Ajay Kumar, a progressive farmer from Uttar Pradesh, is setting a new example in the agriculture sector with his hard work and use of innovative techniques. Having a special interest in organic farming, Ajay has aimed to increase the yield and income of farmers through modern technology. In his fields, he is making farming environmentally friendly and profitable by growing vermicompost and new species of sugarcane.

Ajay has laid special emphasis on the use of new techniques in farming, which includes the manufacture of vermicompost and organic manure. His aim is to make farmers aware of agriculture through organic farming and motivate them in this direction. Especially, he has played a special role in getting the benefits of various government schemes to small and marginal farmers. Due to Ajay’s efforts, many poor and marginal farmers are getting economic benefits by joining schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana. He has worked to bring new varieties of sugarcane to farmers and train them about methods that give high production.

Guide and inspiration for farmers

Ajay Kumar has inspired thousands of farmers towards organic farming with his efforts. Along with this, he is taking farmers towards advanced farming by giving information about new varieties and production methods in the field of sugarcane. In his village and surrounding areas, he organizes many programs to promote the use of new techniques in agriculture among farmers. He has about six to seven acres of land, where he cultivates with organic methods. Apart from this, he has promoted a new thinking towards farming by sharing his experiences, which is his great achievement.

Government support and recognition

Ajay has also received government honors due to his achievements and work in farming. On special occasions like Kisan Diwas, he was called on the stage and honored for his achievements. Although he has not taken direct benefit of government schemes, but from time to time seeds, fertilizers and medicines have been provided to him through the government, which has helped him in his farming.

Community engagement and training

Ajay Kumar has made farming a means of social service and has introduced many farmers to the nuances of agriculture by involving them. He also sees agriculture as a good means of employment for women. He has also connected the women and youth of the village to farming and encouraged them to become self-reliant in this field. Ajay has also formed a group to organize the farmer community in his village, where he gives information about new methods of agriculture.

Challenges and way forward

Ajay has faced many challenges in this field. Preparing the farmers who do farming in the villages with old methods to use new techniques has been a big challenge for him. But with his patience and dedication, he spread awareness among the farmers and inspired them to move towards organic and modern farming.

Ajay’s journey is not only as a farmer but also as an inspirational leader who is bringing positive change in the society. His work can be expected to lead to more and more farmers moving towards organic farming, which will not only increase their income but will also contribute significantly to environmental protection.

Increasing use of new technologies in agriculture

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Organization (NSSO), about 40% of farmers have adopted technology like drip irrigation to deal with the impact of climate change, which helps in water conservation. Additionally, about 30% of farmers have resorted to cooperative institutions for the purpose of sharing tractors and other agricultural equipment, which has reduced the cost of production.

New digital platforms are also proving helpful in providing technical information to farmers. For example, according to data from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), millions of farmers have received the latest agronomic and meteorological information through mobile apps like ‘Kisan Rath’ and ‘Krishi IT’. These digital tools are enabling farmers to take timely and correct decisions, thereby improving the quality and quantity of their produce.

The ‘Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana’ (RKVY) run by the Government of India with the aim of promoting new technology in agriculture is also an important effort. Under this scheme, farmers were assisted in adopting improved seeds, water management techniques and pest management measures on more than 50,000 hectares of land by 2023. Similarly, about 22 crore soil health cards have been issued through the ‘Soil Health Card Scheme’ (SHC), which provides information to farmers about the condition of the soil and essential nutrients. This is enabling farmers to take better decisions in crop production.

Challenges and expectations of farmers towards new technologies

While there is enthusiasm in the use of new technologies in agriculture, there are also challenges. Small and marginal farmers, whose number is high in India, are often unable to use new technologies due to lack of technical knowledge and financial resources. This problem is being addressed through government schemes and agricultural extension services. According to the Union Agriculture Ministry, about 1.5 crore farmers have been trained in the last five years under technical training programs.

The phase of agricultural technological revolution is going on in India, and it is clear from the government data that the inclination of farmers towards new technology is increasing. While the use of new technology in agriculture is increasing production and reducing costs, the quality of life of farmers is also improving. This enthusiasm towards technological innovation is necessary to give new direction and momentum to Indian agriculture. With the support of the government and the curiosity of the farmers, this journey of technological innovation in agriculture will definitely give new dimensions to the Indian agricultural sector.
