Anil Kumar Singh took the path of natural farming in June 2008. His source of inspiration was a five-day training program organized at Patanjali Organic Research Institute (PORI), Haridwar. During this time he understood the deep technical aspects of natural farming and decided to adopt them in his fields.

Methods adopted in the field

Under Natural Farming, Anil Kumar Singh uses the following methods:

Green Manure – Crops like Dhaincha, Moong are used to increase the fertility of the soil.

Jeevamrut – Jeevamrut prepared from cow dung, cow urine, jaggery, gram flour and soil is the main nutrition method of his farming. It is used at an interval of every 15-20 days.

Ghanjeevamrut – It is solid organic manure, which is mixed in the soil to increase nutrition.

Seed Treatment – ​​All seeds are soaked in Beejamrut (mixture of cow urine, neem, cow dung and lime) and then sown.

Pest Control – Dashparni extract, neem oil and buttermilk are sprayed.

Irrigation – Crops are irrigated with water saving through drip irrigation and tubewells.

Weed Control – Manual labour and mulching are used.

Crop Rotation – Soil fertility is maintained by sowing different crops in different seasons.

Mulching – Mulch and crop residues are used to retain moisture in the soil.

Anil Kumar Singh grows a variety of crops in his 8-acre farm, which mainly includes:

Paddy, wheat, sugarcane, gram, peas, fenugreek, turmeric, coriander and mustard.

Apart from this, he also plants bananas, papaya and guava trees.

He has also planted Kashmiri plum (Ziziphus) and 65 guava plants on the boundaries of his field.

Fisheries and animal husbandry

Apart from farming, Anil Kumar Singh also does fish farming, goat farming and poultry farming. He has 4 cows and 32 goats, which helps him in organic manure and milk production.

The dung and cow urine obtained from the cows are used to prepare Jeevamrit and Ghanjeevamrit. This maintains the fertility of the soil naturally and also improves the production of crops.
