Organic Farming: How are women leading the organic farming revolution in rural areas?
Farming revolution: Women in rural areas are not only changing their lives through organic farming, but are also bringing positive changes for the environment and society.
The field of agriculture in India has always been male-dominated, but nowadays women’s participation is increasing. Especially in rural areas, where women are doing new experiments in agriculture not only for their family but for the entire society. Women are especially leading in organic farming, which is not only beneficial for the environment but also for human health. In this blog, we will know the inspirational stories of some such women, who not only changed their lives through organic farming, but also showed the direction of a healthy and prosperous future for others.
Woman farmer who changed society
Ruby Pareek’s story is an example of struggle and dedication. This woman farmer from Dausa district of Rajasthan not only improved her life by adopting organic farming, but also inspired others. She has grown different types of crops according to the season on her land, such as wheat, gram, amla, lemon and cranberry. These crops kept her fields green and proved to be profitable for the organic farm.
Ruby Pareek took many important steps to bring change in the society along with organic farming. In 2008, she set up a vermicompost unit with a production capacity of 200 metric tonnes in Rajasthan with the support of NABARD. This unit not only provided employment to many poor and helpless labourers, but through its work it also provided free vermicompost, earthworms and Azolla fern to the farmers so that they too could turn towards organic farming.
Due to these efforts of Ruby, “Kisan Club Khatwa” was awarded the state level award in 2011-12, which was a significant appreciation of her work. By using organic fertilizers like vermicompost and Jeevamrit, she increases the quality of her crops and also ensures the protection of the environment. With these measures of organic farming, she not only enriched her land, but also made her farm an example of organic farming.

Renu and her husband started organic farming on their terrace and adopted terrace gardening.
Through terrace gardening, they not only improved the environment of the house, but also promoted a healthy lifestyle. Hundreds of medicinal, ornamental, fruit and vegetable plants are flourishing on their terrace. Renu has divided her terrace into different sections, such as perennial plants in the shade, flowering plants in the sun and vegetables in one section. In this way, she gave a new direction to organic farming and gave the message to the whole society that organic farming is not only limited to fields, but it can also be adopted in urban life.
