The Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana in October 2025 — and it is unlike most agricultural schemes that came before it. PMDDKY consolidates 36 existing agricultural schemes across 11 ministries, including PM-KISAN, PMFBY, PMKSY, and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, into a unified programme. Instead of applying to different offices for different benefits, farmers in covered districts now access everything through a single scheme.
With an annual budget of Rs 24,000 crore for six years from 2025-26 to 2030-31, totalling Rs 1.44 lakh crore, the scheme aims to support 1.7 crore farmers — particularly small and marginal farmers owning less than 2 hectares of land, who make up 86 percent of India’s farming population.
Which Districts Are Covered
The scheme targets 100 low-performing agricultural districts with the objective of enhancing agricultural productivity, increasing crop diversification, improving irrigation facilities, and facilitating access to long-term and short-term credit.
The selection of these 100 districts was based on three key parameters — the level of agricultural output per unit of land, the number of times crops are cultivated on the same land within a year, and the availability of institutional loans or investment facilities for farmers.
Farmers should check with their district agriculture office or visit agricoop.gov.in to confirm whether their district is included.
What Farmers Actually Get
Financial support includes subsidies of 50 to 80 percent on inputs and loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh for short-term needs and Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for long-term investment through Kisan Credit Cards or NABARD.
Beyond money, the scheme offers free training through Krishi Vigyan Kendras on modern farming, drone use, and allied activities. Women empowerment is also a focus, with support for 10,000 women producer groups with training, loans, and market linkages for activities like dairy or organic farming.
How to Apply
Farmers need an Aadhaar card, land ownership proof, a bank account passbook linked to Aadhaar, a passport-size photograph, and an active mobile number. Applications can be submitted at the nearest Common Service Centre or block-level agriculture department office.
Once verified, benefits are transferred directly to the farmer’s bank account.
