Successful Agri-Business: The part that remains after harvesting paddy and wheat crops is called stubble. In many states of our country, stubble is burnt, which not only damages the environment and soil, but it is also harmful for human health. To deal with this Agri-Waste problem, scientists have suggested many uses of stubble. Aarushi Mittal, a resident of Panipat, Haryana, is also trying to prevent the damage caused by burning stubble and she is doing this work through her textile designing skills.

Aarushi Mittal completed her masters in textile designing from the UK and then started Agri-Business “Parali by Aarushi”. Her startup is in Panipat, Haryana, where she buys stubble from farmers, recycles it and makes many essential and decorative items for the home. This innovative agri business is not only benefiting the environment, but local women are also getting employment. Let us know how Aarushi has shown a new path for the future by converting waste like stubble into the best textile material.

Research on stubble

The biggest problem of the farmers of Punjab and Haryana is stubble. The burning of which affects the neighboring state Delhi, but due to the harvesting of paddy by machines, a lot of stubble accumulates in the farmers’ fields, in such a situation, farmers are forced to burn it for early sowing of the second crop. In such a situation, innovative youth like Aarushi are coming forward and not only helping the farmers by reducing this problem, but also showing new paths of employment by making excellent products from waste material like Agri-Waste.

Aarushi Mittal, a resident of Panipat, Haryana, has done graduation in textile designing from the Delhi campus of Pearl Institute and after that she has done Masters in Textile Designing from the University of the Arts London. Where she did research on stubble. Since she is from Panipat, she had seen around her that the stubble burnt by farmers spreads a lot of pollution. So in her research, she tried to find out why this happens, what are its reasons and what contribution she can make as a textile designer in reducing this pollution.

New material from straw

Aarushi says that in her research she found that a very new material can be made from Agri-Waste straw, which can be used as raw material in the textile industry and anything can be made from this material.

30 types of household products

Under her startup Agri-Business “Parali by Aarushi”, Aarushi makes 30 types of products from the material prepared from straw, which includes table coverings, curtains to cover the walls, rugs to cover the floor, runners, meditation mats, etc. Talking about the process of making a clean textile material from straw, she says that first of all they buy straw from the farmers and deliver it to the factory, which is built near the fields in Panipat. The straw is sorted in the factory and then cleaned.

After 5-6 steps, the stubble becomes completely clean and then it is used to make further material. When this new material is prepared from stubble, it becomes absolutely clean and shiny, from which anything can be made and there is no smell in it. Aarushi has made baskets, table mats from it, as well as the thickness of this material varies, so that it can be used as a cushion, as well as it can also be used as a curtain because it is light weight.

Nothing goes to waste

Aarushi tells that her brand Agri-Waste also makes wall decoration items from stubble material. In fact, whatever waste comes out in making other products, different things are made for wall decoration from it. Not only this, Aarushi has made Ganesha idol, basket etc. from the completely sawdust material that comes out, looking at which it seems that nothing can be made from it.

She says that no piece of straw is wasted here, even the leaves that fall, she recycles them and uses them in her products. In this Agri-Business, no waste goes to waste, and every piece is transformed into a new product.

Creativity got from Dani-Nani

Arushi says that she has inherited creativity from her grandmother. She says that in her childhood she has seen her grandmother doing embroidery, knitting, making pickles etc., due to which she also got the qualities of creativity. Not only this, she says that her parents have also always helped her to move forward.

She also advises other parents to have faith in the ability of their children and increase their confidence, because only by doing this they can be successful in their work. Along with this, Aarushi has shown a new direction by using Agri-Waste like stubble through her Agri-Business “Parali by Aarushi”, which has further increased her creativity.

Making Panipat textile waste and pollution free

Aarushi says that she has a total of 30 products which are made from 90 to 99 percent stubble. Apart from this, she has 2-3 projects related to the environment on which she has to work. Aarushi says that her aim is to make Panipat textile waste and pollution free. She advises women that whatever you want to do, do not think, just do it. She says that financial independence is very important for women, because only when you get money in hand, you will understand how to spend it.

Through her Agri-Business, she is not only trying to save the environment, but is also helping women to become self-reliant. Aarushi had the option of getting a good job in the UK, but instead she chose to work for her city and its people. Her startup based on Agri-Waste is also promoting environmental protection, and it is becoming a part of a social change. Her initiative towards saving the environment is really commendable, because burning stubble is becoming a big problem in our country.

Problems caused by stubble burning

The smoke that comes out during stubble burning causes many health related problems. Apart from this, experts say that the ash of Agri-Waste stubble has a bad effect on the Rhizobia bacteria found in the soil, due to which the fertility of the soil starts decreasing. Burning stubble releases carbon dioxide, methane and other harmful gases. This also reduces the moisture level in the soil. Burning of stubble also harms the organisms living in the soil. To solve these problems, emphasis is being laid on the proper use of stubble under Agri-Business, so that not only the environment can be saved, but farmers can also get benefits.
