Uttar Pradesh Opens Subsidy Booking for Farm Machinery

Farmers in Uttar Pradesh can now apply for subsidies on agricultural machinery as the state government has opened the online booking process under its farm mechanisation programme. The initiative aims to make modern equipment more affordable, helping farmers complete field operations on time while reducing labour costs. Applications are open until August 10, 2026, and eligible farmers can apply through the Agriculture Department’s online portal.

The scheme is expected to benefit farmers preparing for the ongoing Kharif season, when timely field operations are critical for crops such as paddy, maize, sugarcane and pulses. By lowering the cost of machinery, the government hopes to encourage greater use of modern farm equipment across the state.

The Agriculture Department is offering financial assistance on a wide range of agricultural machinery under different central and state schemes. Depending on the equipment and eligibility criteria, farmers can receive subsidies ranging from 50% to 80%.

Machines covered under the programme include tractors, agricultural drones, rotavators, combine harvesters, super seeders and Custom Hiring Centres. While tractors and rotavators support land preparation, combine harvesters help speed up harvesting operations. Agricultural drones are included to promote precision farming through efficient spraying of fertilisers and crop protection products.

The scheme also supports Custom Hiring Centres, allowing entrepreneurs and farmer groups to purchase machinery that can later be rented to other farmers who cannot afford to buy equipment themselves.

Multiple Government Schemes Support the Programme

The subsidy programme brings together support available under several agricultural schemes.

These include the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), the Crop Residue Management Scheme, the National Food Security Mission, the Accelerated Maize Development Programme, and programmes aimed at improving pest and disease management. Combining these schemes allows the department to provide assistance for different categories of machinery and farming needs.

Officials say greater mechanisation can improve farm productivity, reduce dependence on manual labour and help farmers complete sowing and harvesting within the recommended time.

The online booking process began on July 16, 2026, and applications will be accepted until August 10, 2026.

Farmers must submit their applications through the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department’s Agridarshan portal. During registration, applicants need to provide Aadhaar details, bank account information, land records and other required documents before selecting the machinery for which they are seeking financial assistance.

After completing the application and booking process, the department will verify the documents before approving eligible subsidy claims.

Mechanisation Can Improve Farm Efficiency

Modern farm machinery can reduce labour requirements, save time and improve the efficiency of agricultural operations. Equipment such as super seeders also helps manage crop residue without burning stubble, supporting environmentally responsible farming.

The Agriculture Department has advised farmers to complete their applications well before the deadline and ensure that all documents are accurate. Early applications will help avoid delays in processing and improve the chances of receiving machinery before peak farming operations begin.

With increased support for mechanisation, the scheme is expected to help Uttar Pradesh farmers adopt modern technologies, lower production costs and improve overall farm productivity during the Kharif season.
