The use of biogas plants changed the picture of a village in Madhya Pradesh, know how the cost of farmer families was reduced
64 biogas plants installed in the village
It takes many generations to restore the disturbed balance of nature. How to save nature, how to conserve natural resources, how to use available resources properly, an example is Kanti village of Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. This village is known for a large number of livestock. Everything needed to make organic manure is available in abundance here. However, there was a time when the villagers were not aware of its proper use and management.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tikamgarh adopted the village
36.67 percent of the households in the village used to sell cattle dung to make cow dung, while the rest of the village simply threw the dung away. Only 16.67 percent people of the village knew about biogas technology. Keeping in view the availability of livestock, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tikamgarh adopted Kanti village in 2010 under National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture.
64 biogas plants installed in the village
About 64 biogas plants were installed in Kanti village with the supervision and cooperation of the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Village people were trained to use it and made aware about its benefits. A subsidy of Rs 13,500 was given by the Central Government, State Government and IFFCO Unit for setting up biogas plants.
Many benefits of using biogas
The villagers earlier used wood for cooking. They used to bring wood by chopping them from the forests. Now due to the installation of biogas plants, the erosion of wood from the forests has reduced. In this way it has also helped in protecting the environment. Also now 64 farmer families of the village breathe in a pollution free environment. Apart from this, the residue left after biogas is used as manure.

Organic manure is obtained from biogas plant
Each biogas plant produces 3 cubic meters of biogas in a day. In this way, 192 cubic meters of biogas is produced from 64 biogas plants. Apart from this, 25 kg of organic manure is obtained in a day from each biogas plant. An increase of 20 percent was seen in the production with the use of this organic manure. This organic manure reduces the cost of chemical fertilizers. It also increases the fertility of the soil. The people of the village are becoming aware about the use of biogas plants. They are learning that the use of biogas is essential for improving soil health and the quality of agricultural products.
