Agriculture and Farming Technology Updates

Agriculture Drone: Revolution in farming with Anita Devi’s new technology

0

Agriculture Drone: Anita Devi of Gupalpur (Tikri Khurd) village in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh has started a new chapter in farming with the help of agriculture drones. She adopted drone technology under the Pradhan Mantri Namo Drone Didi Yojana and successfully implemented it in her fields. This new technology has not only made her agricultural processes easier but also increased production and profit.

Use of drones: A new direction

Anita Devi adopted drone technology in April 2024. Drones are used to spray fertilizers and organic manures like nano urea and nano DAP. This technique proves to be more accurate and effective than traditional spraying.

Advantages of using drones:

1. Accurate spraying: Fertilizers and pesticides are sprayed directly on the plants through drones, which maximizes their utility.

2. Soil protection: In the traditional way, manure and fertilizers were absorbed into the soil, affecting the quality of the soil. Drone spraying keeps the soil safe.

3. Time saving: Through drone technology, spraying can be done in a large area in less time.

4. Water saving: Through the fertigation process by drone, the consumption of both water and fertilizer is reduced.

5. Low cost, high profit: This technology reduces the production cost and increases the quality and quantity of the crop.

Challenges in drone technology

Anita Devi also discussed the challenges in adopting drone technology.

1. Battery problem: The limited capacity of drone batteries is a big challenge. The battery gets exhausted quickly and has to be charged repeatedly.

2. Manual transportation: Due to the large size of the drone, it is difficult to carry it to the fields.

3. Need for unlimited use: Resources are needed to adopt drone technology on a large scale, such as more battery sets and vehicle facilities.

4. Lack of awareness of farmers: Many farmers are not aware of the benefits of this technology and are reluctant to adopt it.

Anita said that despite these challenges, she mastered drone operation by taking three days of aerospace training and now she is using it not only in her fields but also in the fields of nearby farmers.

Benefits of using drones in agriculture

After the use of drone technology, Anita Devi saw many positive changes in her farming.

1. Increase in production: Accurate spraying of fertilizers and pesticides through drones has increased both crop quality and production.

2. Reduction in expenses: Drone technology has saved time and resources compared to traditional spraying.

3. Protection from the effects of climate: Drone technology is helpful in protecting crops from adverse weather like frost and heavy rains.

4. Inspiration to the surrounding farmers: Anita Devi has not only used drones in her fields, but has also explained its benefits to other farmers and inspired them to adopt it.

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Namo Drone Didi Yojana

Anita availed the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Namo Drone Didi Yojana, which especially encourages women to become self-reliant and adopt new technology in agriculture. Under this scheme:

1. Drone facility: Equipment like drone and its battery were made available to her on subsidy.

2. Training: Under this scheme, Anita took three days of training on drone operation and maintenance.

3. Availability of resources: Along with drones, vehicles and other equipment were also provided under the scheme.

Expansion of Anita Devi’s farming

Anita Devi has expanded the scope of her farming using drone technology. She mainly cultivates vegetables and also uses organic manure in her fields. Her crops are better in quality and more in demand in the market.

Future plans

Anita Devi aims to adopt drone technology on a large scale and make it available to other farmers.

1. Expansion of drone technology: She wants the government to make this technology affordable and accessible, so that even small and middle class farmers can adopt it.

2. Awareness of farmers: Anita Devi is working to make other farmers aware and train them.

3. Use of natural resources: She believes that the use of organic manure along with drone technology will maintain the fertility of the soil.

4. Women empowerment: She wants more women to adopt this technology and become self-reliant in agriculture.

Message for farmers

Anita Devi says, “The time has come to adopt new technology in agriculture. Technology like drones not only helps in increasing the yield of crops but also reduces the cost. It is the need of the hour that we move beyond traditional farming and adopt modern techniques.”

Anita Devi has made a new beginning in agriculture with her determination and innovation. By adopting drone technology, she modernized her farming and made it profitable. Her story not only inspires farmers but also shows that any challenge can be overcome with the right approach and hard work. Her efforts are an important step towards making the government’s schemes successful on the ground and making women self-reliant.
